Summary / Overview

Groovy Donuts is a small, retro donut and coffee shop that believes each member of our team should work toward our core purpose: Spreading Joy, Building Community and Feeling Groovy!

This position is responsible for organizing and guiding team in daily tasks.  Shift leads assist team in providing top-notch hospitality to our guests, assisting them in selecting, packing and ringing them up for their donuts, beverages and merchandise.  Shift Lead stocks and maintains organization and cleanliness of donut display case, coffee area and customer service area.  Works with team on maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, including: coffee brewer, coffee grinder, POS system, etc.  Guides and assists team members to fulfill orders for wholesale, café and catering customers.  Maintains accurate inventories (FIFO).

Essential Functions

1) Provides hospitality to guests, including serving donuts, coffee / beverages and merchandise to customers, ringing up transactions and making guest feel welcome and appreciated, while maintaining calm and friendly demeanor

2) Prepares (accurately and efficiently) orders for wholesale, café and catering customers

3) Maintains stock, organization and cleanliness of coffee service area, donut display, speed racks and service counter

4) Evaluates customer and store needs throughout shift

5) Coordinates team to ensure highest level of hospitality, organization and cleanliness are being performed by team each shift

Physical Demands
Standard food service counter; requires standing for long periods of time and moving about the café service stations as necessary to complete orders.  Routinely uses or is in contact with coffee grinders, coffee brewers, hot liquids and large speed racks. 

The team member must frequently lift or move objects up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full (30 – 40 hours per week) or Part Time (29 Hours Per week or less) position. Typical working hours range from 4:00am to 2:00pm; may vary.

Required Education and Experience
At least 1 year of café / foodservice experience OR customer service experience. 

Preferred Education and Experience
18 years or older. 1 year café / foodservice leadership experience.  Understanding of food safety protocols.
